Mission Statement: As a future OTR/L, I will provide therapeutic services that challenge, inspire, and support clients to achieve self-desired goals that enhance optimal health and well-being. Empathy combined with clinical experience will guide my practice and help me deliver satisfactory client outcomes in all settings across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. I passionately feel every individual has the right to health despite physical and social obstacles that may impede performance. I want to empower my clients to overcome occupational hindrances in order to reach new levels of life satisfaction. My practice will use the values of humanism to develop therapeutic relationships that will ultimately lead clients towards personal growth and success outside the clinic.
Biography: My name is Alaena Haber. I am a master's student of occupational therapy at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. The University of Florida awarded me my undergraduate degree in Advertising (B.S.) in 2010. I worked in the advertising industry for two years before deciding to attend graduate school. My experience in advertising developed creative, organizational, managerial, and teamwork skills that translate fluidly into occupational therapy.
I currently act as the Public Relations and Volunteer for Rush University's Student Occupational Therapy Association. Job duties include seeking and coordinating volunteer events and fundraisers in the Chicago community. I also represent our program in the Student Government Association. Professional and patient advocacy go hand-in-hand, and I believe individual efforts to support the field are necessary to increase the awareness, respect, and understanding of occupational therapy.
During my free time, I enjoy cooking, exercising, taking long walks with my cockapoo Rafael, and drawing up plans for my future sustainable home with my fiance, Jeff.
